Why do we need to raise CHD research funding?

 

• Congenital heart defects are the MOST common birth defect and cause of infant death. 

• Every 15 minutes a child is diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.

• 25% of those with complex CHD won’t live to see their first birthday. 

 

When our son was diagnosed we knew very little about CHDs. We had to educate ourselves as much as possible, and began reading research articles. After weeks of searching, we found a serious lack of research on our son’s condition. We were complexed, heartbroken, confused, and in the difficult position of making life altering decisions with little information. Many families facing CHD are in the same position. CHD research is heavily underfunded, and we are here to change that! We want to help create better options for all children fighting CHD!
